Vision Statement

At our school we value compassion, inclusiveness, and respectful resolution of conflict. To this end, we follow our Harmony Agreement as stated below. This agreement outlines our expectations for our peaceful community founded on treating each other with respect and understanding.

We are inspired by Dr. Maria Montessori’s optimism and belief in the capacity of children to grow up and bring about a better, more just and peaceful world.  We embrace this optimism and commitment to peace that is informed by a generous and caring spirit. When we put our beliefs and intentions  into practice each day, we create a safe and welcoming community for adults and children alike. We ask those who join our community to review the Harmony Agreement and uphold its statements.

The Montessori School of Northampton Harmony Agreement

(Guidance for our School Community)

We appreciate our peaceful community, founded on treating each other with respect and understanding; therefore, we…

Speak with the intention of bringing clarity and caring to ourselves and to others

Recognize our feelings and reactions as our own

Respect the privacy of others and gracefully accept not knowing

Respect the rights and sensitivities of others in words and actions

Regard those with whom we have difficulty as our greatest teachers

Address and resolve conflicts as quickly as possible

Speak directly to the person with whom the conflict arose

Speak about our own experience, being open to the experience of others

Forgive, move forward, and start anew

Support others in keeping these agreements.
